Course Information & Schedule

In the wake of unprecedented U.S. government transparency efforts and the accelerating momentum of the UFO/UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) disclosure movement, this 10-week course offers a timely and in-depth investigation into one of the most controversial and compelling aspects of the UFO phenomenon: crash retrievals. Drawing from declassified documents, physical evidence, military whistleblower testimony, and investigative journalism, the course explores the most significant 25 alleged UFO crash events that have shaped the modern conversation around non-human intelligence and technology.

We will cover the full history of UFO crash retrievals from the important pre-Roswell crashes to the infamous 1947 Roswell incident to lesser-known but increasingly substantiated cases such as the 1953 Kingman Arizona crash, the 1965 Kecksburg crash, and the 1996 Varginha encounter in Brazil. Through examining the top cases participants will engage critically with firsthand accounts, physical traces, radar data, and insider revelations. Special attention will be given to recent congressional hearings, whistleblower disclosures (such as those by David Grusch and Jake Barber), and the shifting legal and political landscape surrounding legacy crash retrieval programs.

Each week will focus on a different case or theme, contextualizing it within broader patterns of secrecy, aerospace advancement, and global intelligence dynamics. The course invites participants to evaluate the credibility of crash retrieval claims using interdisciplinary tools—from historical research and forensic analysis to intelligence studies, first-person testimony, and media literacy.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand and critically assess the historical and evidentiary basis of major UFO crash retrieval claims.
  • Explore the evolving role of the U.S. government, military, and intelligence agencies in managing UAP information.
  • Identify patterns in global crash retrieval reports and analyze the implications of corroborating witness testimony.
  • Engage with current disclosure developments and anticipate potential impacts on science, technology, and society.

Why Now?
With recent U.S. legislation compelling transparency on UAP programs and public discourse shifting from fringe speculation to serious policy debate, this course provides an essential foundation for anyone seeking to make sense of unfolding events in real time. Whether you're a researcher, journalist, policy analyst, or curious citizen, this course equips you to navigate the evidence and narratives driving one of the most extraordinary conversations of our time.

Facilitator & Lecturer

SEAN ESBJöRN-HARGENS PH.D.

Sean Esbjörn-Hargens Ph.D. has been a global leader of the application of integrative metatheories for over two decades. Through his numerous activities, projects, and writings, he has made notable contributions to developing “metaintegral” approaches to the fields of education, ecology, mixed-methods research, psychology & consciousness studies, philosophy of science, anomalous studies, organizational development, and post-capital models of measuring social impact.

For the last seven years, he has been developing the new field of Exo Studies – exploring the implications of anomalous realities and experiences for our understanding the nature of reality. Sean is very passionate about developing new metaviews of what it means to be living in a multidimensional multiverse. His most recent Exo Studies article is a 50-page piece entitled Our Wild Komos where he explores the topic of the ontological status of Non-human Intelligences (NHI).

He has also authored or edited nine books on integral theory and its applications and is currently co-editing an anthology on integrative metatheory and writing his first book on Exo Studies. Currently, he is the Dean of Integral Education at the California Institute for Human Sciences (CIHS). Also, at CIHS he is the Program Director of the online MA/PHD program in Integral Noetic Sciences (INS), which takes an integrative metatheoretical approach to the scientific study of consciousness with a focus on noetic and anomalous experiences. At CIHS he also runs the Center for Anomalous and Noetic Studies and the Center for Applied Integrative Metatheory. The INS program is the only accredited program on Earth that offers a concentration in UAP and Consciousness Studies.

In partnership with CIHS, Last year he launched a new global research project on Super Experiencers exploring the multiple types of anomalous and noetic experiences people have. This project includes a survey, in-depth interviews, and brain imaging of Super Experiencers. Sean has also had his fair share of wild and weird first-person "exo" experiences, which makes this exploration personally salient and meaningful.
